A not-to-be missed experience for anyone who has love of Rhythm and Dance!
This intensive three day program of workshops taught by internationally acclaimed musicians, performers and teachers will cover a wide range of traditions and forms. With workshops tailored to all experience levels, all are encouraged to join us for a rhythm-filled weekend of joyful community. The camp will be held in beautiful Serpentine, Western Australia and all lodging and meals are included.

Back to the Roots 2010 is the brainchild of Percussionist Freddy Poncin. Other instructors include Ziggy Bey Jan who will teach you the traditional way of Sabar drumming from Senegal, Michael Boase instructs Samba Drumming, Inge van Winkel from African Dance and Danny Pender who will get you to your feet with the main Dance styles from Guinea and Senegal.

Our main instructors are:
Master drummer and griot Mohamed Bangoura alias BangouraKé from Guinee. The griot Bangourake is a former member of Percussion de Guinee, Mohamed is one of the world’s top djembe masters and instructors. This amazing performer will teach traditional djembe rhythms, technique, solo patterns and dance.
Lamine Sonko was born and raised in a music family in Senegal. A gifted Percussionist, dancer, singer and choreographer, Lamine is an amazing multi-talented artist from Senegal. Lamine will teach dance at the camp.
